Thrifty Thursday: DIY Swiffer Cloths

We have hard flooring throughout our house here.  Tile in the kitchen and bath and wood floors everywhere else.  There is a great tool for keeping those floors clean, most of you know it; the Swiffer.  But those Swiffer cloths get expensive.

My solution: mirco-fiber towels.  I have a couple of micro-fiber towels that will fit perfectly onto the head of my Swiffer.

And when I need to spot clean something with a mop?  I just get the cloth wet, wring it out and poof! – a Swiffer wet mop.

Micro Fiber Cloth

Go forth and attack your dust bunnies!

  1. Brilliant — and far better for the environment!

  2. I use my swiffer the exact same way with microfiber towels! It works great and we never run out, we just have to wash them. Actually microfiber towels are good for just about everything!

  3. Great tip! Thanks for sharing. We use a wood stove constantly in winter, so it gets awfully dusty on the wood floors. A regular broom is too large to fit under the couch, and bookcases to chase all those dust bunnies, so we resort to the swiffer as well. I look forward to borrowing some of my hubby’s towels to try this out!
    Blessings!

Dollarama sells microfibre swiffer cloths. They’re great and just pop them in the washer and they’re good as new.

micro fiber sounds good, I’ll try it. I’ve been using regular washcloths myself. 🙂
