Well, it’s getting closer. It’s almost time! Halloween is growing near. I can tell by the weather and the smell in the air. I just can’t wait for what this season holds. I love eating soups and stews with homemade bread. Baking good things to eat. A fire in the stove, the falling leaves. Hot spiced apple cider. Haunted houses and corn mazes. Pumpkin carving, dressing up, trick-or-treating.
This weekend we had a Halloween sneak peek with a few of my favorite traditions. We ate our usual pancake breakfast on Saturday, but with a fun Halloween twist. We got these a couple years ago, and Rick doesn’t let me get them out until October.
This year, we call it Halloween Pancakes with a Side of HAM!:
Then on Sunday we did our annual pumpkin picking tradition with Rachel Carlson. We went to the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield’s Pumpkin Festival, and the Toland’s joined us there this year. There were artisans, food vendors, tractor rides, a petting zoo and burro rides. And of course, pumpkins! We were fortunate enough to run into some other good friends there too… the Leetes & the Bonds. Rach got most of the good pumpkin shots, but here is my favorite for the day (that I got on my camera at least)!

LOVE your traditions, especially the pumpkin patch! must adopt that halloween pancake one too – YUMMERS! i absolutely LOVE that photo of me and henry. i look like his personal/private photographer. which reminds me, i still have to unload the camera from the patch. i had a 2 day bug with puke, fever, cold chills, body aches, etc. i’m SO happy that rich returns TOMORROW! safe travels and have a great time on your hunting excursion. hugs, rach
