In other words, MAY!
You could easily say that this month, the Schell house has been a MAD House! It’s been a crazy month so far!
But… the garden is in! On the 3rd (the official last frost of the year), we planted the veggie garden! MMMmmmm… five tomatoes, Anaheim peppers (green chiles), zucchini, summer squash, acorn squash, green & purple beans. Not to mention the cucumbers, radishes, spinach, lettuces, peas, kale, Brussels sprouts and onions! Oy! Heaven!
The garden isn’t the only thing growing in the Schell house either! Henry is now 18 months old, 25 pounds, and 33 1/2 inches tall! That puts him in the 86th percentile for height and 23ish for weight. Long & lean… sound like anyone we know?
On Mother’s Day, he got his first hair cut! I did it myself, and now I think he looks even more like Rick! Here’s a before & after photo for you… he looks so grown up now!
Then, after the hair cut, Rick took me, Josie and Henry to the mountains for a Mother’s Day pic-nic and hike! We were treated to a couple of herds of deer along the way, and a few beautiful alpine flowers as well!
And for the marriage part – Rick & I were attendants in our friends’ wedding this week! So all month-long we’ve been busy with bridal showers, bachelor parties, dress and tux fittings, manicures and other marriage mayhem! The big event was yesterday – yes a Thursday! They got married at historic Pincrest in Palmer Lake, CO. The place was beautiful!
The rehearsal was Wednesday, and we got to stay the night in the lodge there at the Pinecrest facility. That means, Henry had his first ever sleep over at his friend Jackson’s house! Jackson’s mom, Jenn was so great to watch him for us overnight. And then he spent all day Thursday playing with Remington & Tawnya Toland.
While we were in the lodge, Rick caught this bat, and helped him find his way back outside! How COOL is that!!!!!!! The bat combined with Rick teaching the kids how to play poker made him very popular. No wonder he was the best man!
The wedding was beautiful. The bride and groom, Mark Fish and Kali Pond, had a bunch of these little guys as center pieces for the reception. So of course we had to adopt one. His name is “Fish” in honor of the bride and groom (and to keep things simple for Henry). And he absolutely adores him!
