My Mother’s Day!

pic-nic.jpg

What a fun weekend!  Rick and I started off Saturday by taking our own mother’s out.  Rick and his brothers took his mom to breakfast at Dozens and then to the Denver Art Museum.  My sister and I surprised our mom with afternoon tea at The Silver Plume Tea Room in Silver Plume, CO.  What fun!  It was a tiny little tea room/antique shop in an old mining town near Georgetown.  Silver Plume is actually listed as a ghost town!  Tea was really nice.  We sipped yummy teas from antique cups and listed to a man in a white tux play music on a baby grand piano while we nibbled on tea sandwiches an pastries.

On Sunday morning, Rick brought Henry into our room to snuggle.  Then while he made breakfast, I got to chat on the phone with Jenny about her labor with baby Ali the night before (Yay!  Congrats to her… she went aprox. 30 hours with no drugs)!

After breakfast, we packed a picnic lunch and headed out!  We planned to go to the Botanic Gardens but as we got there we realized that it was packed with people.  So instead, we went down to Harvard park.  We took Henry to the playground and let him try the swings, slide, and teeter-totter for the first time.  Then we walked around the park until we found a perfect picnic spot.  We enjoyed our meatloaf sandwiches, yogurt and tomatoes.  And we spent some time just enjoying the great weather.

After the park, we headed up to  Campus Cycles.  I really want a new bike, so we test rode a couple of nice rides.  We didn’t buy anything, but I got an idea of what I might like to get in the future.

We headed up North to Paulino Gardens to get the veggies and a few flowers for our garden.  Then we were off again… for dinner at Heaven Dragon.  Yum.  My favorite Chinese food!

A perfect day!  Not bad for my very first Mother’s Day!

It was a wonderful Mother’s Day for me too! It was so special that my children made sure to honor me on Saturday so Anisa’s (Niki to me)motherhood could be honored. EVERYONE should have tea at the Silver Plume Tea Room ~ it is a great conversation event! Thank you Niki and Rick for making our Mother’s Day extra special! I love you both and, of course, little Henry!
