Birth Junkies

So last night, I finally connected with the woman from Xylem Family Resource.  I’ve been wanting to set up to observe her childbirth education classes for my own certification requirements.  After chatting for quite a while, and she invited me to her yahoo group called Jesus Freaks and Birth Junkies.  :)   A group of women “in the Colorado Christian Childbirth Community to gather for fellowship, encouragement and prayer.”  I love the name.  I’m excited to get plugged in with the group and get to know other women in Colorado who are interested in what I’m interested in.

It’s been so amazing to me how everything has been so connected.  It is so clear that God has put Rick and I in this place at this time.  It’s amazing to think about the last two years.  From my friend Genny inviting us to her Home Group; to meeting Jen & Justin, who I swear God used to prepare our hearts for having a baby (Thanks!!).  Then getting referred to our family doctor, who encouraged us to pursue taking Deb Greiner’s Bradley course for our childbirth education.  A decision that changed our thinking about the medical world radically!  Then Deb encouraging us to check out the birth center.  Loving the birth center, and loving Tracy, my midwife.  Having Henry!  Now studying to become a childbirth educator myself, Tracy hiring me to work with her and helping me with my certification (not to mention letting me take Henry with me).  Tracy referring me to Xylem… what a chain of events!

I’m excited to see what 2007 holds for me and for our family.

I feel a little crazy sometimes, being a “birth junkie.”  Especially for a woman who did not want to have children!  But I really feel like I’m being led down this path.  The doors have been opening for me left and right!  And like Deb told me, I’m not going to make decisions based on fear!

I’m happy that I’ve been able to (hopefully) help my friends, however far away they may be.  And I really miss them!  I’m excited to meet the Birth Junkies….
